Whilst having a poo, a human could read a book, a magazine, MetaFilter, or a newspaper, for example. But why just humans? Don't cats appreciate lavatorial reading material too?

Thank you for this. I have just bought my cat a remarkably palatial bathroom facility and this is definitely what is missing. Well, that and the bath with lion paw feet.

for maximum authenticity one must inquisitively bat at the door of the cat's litter facility whilst they use it

I tell you what cats appreciate, it is copulating loudly in the alley behind my yard. Also apparently being left alone as they got all quiet when I went outside to see who was being murdered.

From what I understand, even if a cat were cognitively capable of reading, its eyes would be incapable of resolving any practical form of writing.

Even kitty can't wait for scoop o'clock.

That's hilariously adorable, but, I dunno, one of the things I like best about my cats is their complete ignorance about all the crap going on in the world -- if they're gonna read I don't want it to be the news. Maybe a nice light novel instead, like MIss Read or something similar.

Sounds like the cats in grumpybear69's neighborhood would prefer some saucy bodice-ripper romance novels.

So this is why my cats run around the house like maniacs after doing a shit: it's because they are looking for something to read.
